Kaka are also opportunistic omnivores. They strip pieces of bark from some tree species to forage for insects. They also feed on a range of exotic tree species on the mainland. The most common of these include Eucalypt species, Pinus species, and garden trees such as magnolias, banksia, bottlebrush, flowering cherry, mandarins, persimmons, apple ... and many other species of fruit and nut trees.
